TRAINING OF NURSES ON HIV/AIDS PREVENTION, CARE AND TREATMENT.

This project aims at strengthening and capacity building of 55 nurses training institutes and 90,000 nurses on HIV/AIDS and ART within a period of 5 years (2008-2013). It is supported by the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria (GFATM) and will be implemented by the Indian Nursing Council in co-ordination with the National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) with support of the management agency Futures Group International (India) Pvt. Limited. It involves 55 nurses training institutes that have been identified from all over the country. The Indian Nursing Council is the Principal Recipient (PR) under this project. Five of these institutes (SRs) will be developed into Regional Resource Centers (RRCs) that would conduct the trainings of the master trainers and also monitor the SSRs (Sub Sub Recipients) where the training of the nurses will be conducted.

The objective of the project is to enhance the institutional capacities of 55 nurse training institutes and nurses on HIV/AIDS and antiretroviral treatment (ART).

The Futures Group as the Technical and management support agency to this project is facilitating the Indian Nursing Council in the effective implementation of this project.
