Objective

Enhance the nurses and institutional capacities of 55 nurse training institutes

AIM
  • Strengthen nursing institutions and the nurse trainers

  • Develop training curriculum

  • Continuing nursing education through e-learning, web based learning

  • Master trainers as lead trainers

  • 90,000 in service nurses will be trained

  • 5 regional resource centers will be established

Service delivery area
Training material development:
  • Conduct a Capacity building needs assessment
  • Conduct a national workshop to finalize the training curricula for nurses

Enhancement of the quality of trainers and pedagogy:

  • Creating a master pool of trainers and enhancement of the capacity for quality trainers by hiring additional staff
  • Conduct ToT projects
  • Identify resources pool from faculty, project managers, lead trainers, master trainers to be part of the regional resource group
  • Preparing a training plan
  • To establish 5 Regional Resource Centers
  • To design and impart refresher courses through e-learning and web based modules
Improvement of the quality of training infrastructure and training systems:
  • Setting up of an infrastructure challenge fund
  • Strengthening of Regional Resource Centers
  • To conduct workshops to promote cross learning
Training of Nurses:
The training project will cover the following areas:
  • Technical areas such as general care and support
  • History taking
  • Holistic case management of PLHA
  • Recognizing OI and basic treatment
  • Referrals to specialists and tertiary care departments
  • ART and adherence requirements
  • Nutrition and hygiene requirements
  • HIV/TB linkage
Support and supervision of training institutions:
  • Project Management and project audit
  • Facilitate, coordinate and promote sharing of lessons and good practices across the country for cross learning
  • Setting up M and E systems
  • Facilitate project evaluations and impact evaluations
  • Management of the infrastructure challenge fund; which the institutions involved can apply for obtaining founds for refurbishment
Support and supervision of nurses:
  • Develop and put in place feedback cycles for both content and post training evaluation. Seek and incorporate suggestions of PLHA into the curricula to improve the quality of nursing care provided.
  • Develop a method to strengthen Knowledge Management by establishing a Management Information System for the Project which would enable standardized and customized reports, track training projects, data analysis and provide real time information on Digital Dashboards using portals
